Kretschmar Member, Mary Joe Eaton - "Helping to Find a Cure"

Mary Joe Eaton, a UFCW Canada, Local 1000A member from Kretschmar Foods Inc., was awarded the "Helping to Find a Cure" award, on October 3, 2009 during the local's annual steward's conference in Niagara Falls. Local 1000A, president, Kevin Corporon wanted to recognize Mary Joe, for her initiative, dedication and hard work over the last few years in raising funds for leukemia research. She held bake sales and raffles in her workplace throughout the year. Her efforts clearly paid off this year. With participation from the members at Kretschmar, Mary Joe was able to reach a three year high, and raised $10,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. "Congratulations go out to her and all of the members at Kretschmar", says Corporon. Mary Joe can be seen receiving her award in the photo above with local union President Kevin Corporon and fundraising representative for the local, Dustin Magee.
